Dan Nystedt / @dnystedt: President Trump on Truth Social: -Apple now working with Intel to design and build its chips in the US. -Nvidia also working with Intel -Elon Musk's TeraFab designed with Intel, using Intel tech.
Trump’s various tariffs on overseas ... credit for Nvidia’s $5 million investment into Intel last year to design and manufacture chips, along with Intel’s recent partnership with Elon Musk’s Terafab AI chip complex project with SpaceX and Tesla....
It later worked with Elon Musk, the president said, to negotiate a deal with Intel to use its technology to run a chip manufacturing plant called Terafab, which Mr. Musk is developing. Finally, Mr. Trump said in his post, “Apple has agreed to work with Intel to design and build its Chips in America.”
"Next, Elon agreed to build his TerraFab, the largest Chip Factory in the World, designed together with Intel's Technology team," he added. The Terafab project represents the first major outside manufacturing commitment for Intel's capital-intensive foundry business, which previously produced chips exclusively for its proprietary products.
The reported project summary describes a venture announced on March 21, 2026, with an estimated cost of $20 billion to $25 billion, a vertically integrated semiconductor complex, and a target of producing more than one terawatt of AI compute ...

SpaceX recently secured a property tax exemption for a planned $55 billion AI and semiconductor facility — dubbed Terafab — in Grimes County, further north of Austin, signaling a long-term commitment to building a technology and aerospace ...
ASML shares are jumping as investors cheer news that the massive $55 billion Terafab semiconductor project from SpaceX, Tesla, and xAI will rely solely on ASML’s cutting-edge EUV lithography machines.
Elon Musk named ASML the greatest company in Europe and confirmed it as a key supplier to the $55 billion Terafab project. Export controls and a 62x trailing P/E are the primary risks, with China revenue set to decline and a bear-case target of $1,581. Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and ASML didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today. ASML (NASDAQ:ASML) has been one of 2026's defining AI infrastructure trades, with the Dutch lithogr
Industry Leadership: ASML's extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography systems provide essential technological support for companies like TSMC and Intel in manufacturing advanced chips, further solidifying its leadership position in the global semiconductor equipment market.
Click to expand... I could see this happening. Alphabet is going to have Intel make TPU's for them. And Intel will be working with SpaceX on their Terafab to make chips based on Intel's 14A process. ... I’ll take the TSMC flavor please.
After Tesla CEO Elon Musk publicly began recruiting domestic semiconductor design engineers in February this year, the company last month also began hiring senior process engineers for its "Terafab" project, on condition of working in Seoul. "It appears they are targeting talent from Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, which hold a large pool of memory, foundry, and packaging personnel," an industry official said.
Tesla, too, after CEO Elon Musk publicly recruited domestic semiconductor design personnel this February, launched a Seoul recruitment drive last month for senior process engineers to be deployed on its "Terafab" project. An industry official analyzed, "They are targeting the memory, foundry, and packaging personnel of Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) and SK hynix, in a move aimed at semiconductor vertical integration."
The two companies are also jointly developing "Terafab," a $55 billion chip manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas, co-built with Intel, which will produce semiconductors for AI, robotics, and space systems.
That hands Musk a big opportunity for marshaling a hugely overvalued stock to salvage great value for himself and the other Tesla owners. The SpaceX S-1 filing makes a big deal over the sundry areas of collaboration between the two companies. Those include partnering to develop digital workflows and their joint-ownership in the Terafab facility that plans to produce a gigantic one terawatt a year in compute hardware.
“This is what we’ll try to do and think we probably can do, which is to get to roughly an annualized rate of a gigawatt per year by the end of next year in terms of space AI compute. Then, aspirationally, scale that by an order of magnitude per year. So in two and a half years, hitting an annualized rate of 10 gigawatts a year in space. In three and a half years, maybe 100 gigawatts. Then, depending on progress in chipmaking in the rest of the world and with the TeraFab, going beyond that to sca
Fouquet reframed the orbital data center discussion: it’s not about more compute — it’s about accessing energy where it’s available. The bottleneck is Layer 1 (Energy), not Layer 5 (Compute). ... Musk’s Terafab and Korean DRAM mega-fabs both represent “million wafer” scale.
The foundry business is just beginning with their large Terafab announcement as well as overflow demand from the great N3 shortage. To truly capitalize on this special moment, Intel must be the great supplier of the rest of the industry hungry for leading edge wafers.
